• 1. EXT. PUMPKIN PATCH IN THE RURAL SOUTH - A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY

There are dozens of ripe orange pumpkins, of all shapes and sizes, embedded in the soft earth and still affixed to their leafy, green, ntertwining vines. As we begin to rise up over the patch, we can see a SCARECROW in tattered old clothes (probably shredded by the crows) looming over the crops. Way off in the distance, a considerable stretch beyond the pumpkin patch, we now begin to see a dirt path winding through a rolling meadow that drifts into the edge of a forest.... BRER FOX (V.O.) It was just a few days before Halloween when all these goings-on that I'm gonna tell you about commenced to happenin'… Suddenly there's a CLOUD OF DUST kicking up on the dirt path some distance away-- followed by another larger cloud of dust. As they both head straight toward us, it becomes clear what's making all the fuss: BRER FOX is chasing after BRER RABBIT. The rabbit is galloping along the path and howling with laughter, managing to stay several steps ahead of the fox's snapping jaws. BRER FOX (V.O.) That rascally Brer Rabbit was up to his usual tricks... and I figured it was time for the two of us to have a friendly little chit-chat.

2 CLOSER ANGLE ON SCENE The two critters race along at breakneck speed, as Brer Rabbit glances back to taunt his nemesis: BRER RABBIT Sorry, Brer Fox! I'd love to stop and pass the time o' day with ya... but I just got too much to do! BRER FOX Brer Rabbit, this is the absolutest last time you ever gonna trick me! When I get my hands on you-- BRER RABBIT Gotta catch me first! (gales of laughter) With a flip of his long bushy tail, Brer Rabbit dashes into and out of the pumpkin patch with Brer Fox at his heels. The wily rabbit leads the merry chase around and around and around a red oak tree, straight through a fallen log and across a field of daisies... which slopes straight up towards:

• 2. EXT. THE EDGE OF A SHORT CLIFF

Brer Rabbit dashes toward the precipice with Brer Fox close behind. BRER FOX (grinning) I got ya now, you lop-eared, bushy tailed little good-for-nothin'!!! LOW ANGLE LOOKING UP AT THE CLIFF With one final lunge, Brer Rabbit gleefully leaps off the cliff's edge and sails right past us... followed by Brer Fox, who also takes the plunge. As the fox falls toward us, however, he sees what's waiting for him down below. His expression turns from delight into abject horror-- BRER FOX' P.O.V. Zooming up, right at him: the sharply thorned BRIAR PATCH, a tangle of vines covered with hundreds of dagger-like needles! CLOSE UP - BRER FOX'S HORRIFIED FACE

3 BRER FOX Oh, mama....

• 3. INT. A CLEARING INSIDE THE BRIAR PATCH - CONTINUOUS

Brer Rabbit stands poised and waiting, a broad smile on his face. He cups one hand behind an ear and listens for the inevitable: BRER FOX (O.S.) YEEEEOOOUUUCH!!!!!!!!! The rabbit turns and grins at us from ear to ear. BRER RABBIT He always calls for his mama. Ain't that sweet? DISSOLVE TO:

• 4. EXT. A LUSH FOREST GLEN - SOME TIME LATER

Brer Rabbit, looking carefree and happy as a clam, is hopping along a trail leading into the woods. BRER FOX (V.O.) Yep, that rascal sassed me an' got away with it again! Wasn't long before he was

• n his merry way hoppin' down the road,

lippity-clippity, all full o' himself.... As he bounces into the forest, the rabbit happens to bump into his old friend, BRER TURTLE: BRER TURTLE Heyo, Brer Rabbit! BRER RABBIT Howdy-do, Brer Turtle. BRER TURTLE I hear tell you gave ol' Brer Fox his comeuppance again. (chuckles)
