Why – Research Introduction

 The research undertaken in an Irish context focuses on reports that have been presented through member affiliation with national sports and societies associations and higher education institutional networking conferences. The studies published generally focus on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of student participation levels and to date the author has not found any fact based research linking participation levels and academic performance.
