PrevenUon and control in Arua district

Very strict locally insUtuted mechanisms have always been put in place to contain the situaUons including;

  • Banning of slaughter & cooking/ consumpUon of pork/pigs

at trading centres/market places,

  • Stop of movement of pigs, sensiUzaUon of farmers,

traders , enforcement agencies & transporters & enforcement of relevant veterinary laws.

  • The local leaders have always been helpful & supporUve to

the processes hence helping us effecUvely control the disease situaUons in the district.

  • Our predisposing factors as Arua district has been among
  • thers, the wide & porous borders with DRC where there

has always been very weak or no proper disease control & prevenUon systems in place
