What is is a SET pla lan? • The school, student and parents/carers work together on the student’s Senior Education & Training (SET) Plan (or career plan). • The SET plan: • maps out what, where and how a student will study during their senior phase of learning — usually Years 10, 11 and 12 • is agreed between student, their parents/carers and the school • is regularly reviewed to monitor progress.

  3. SET Plan In Interviews Held on: • Wednesday 19 th September from 3:00pm – 7:00pm • Thursday 20 th September all day (Year 10 students not required to attend school on this day.) Parent/carers to book a 30 minute interview: • tonight with the students in the foyer • online Using PTO online system or • by contacting the school See the letter received this evening for Booking Details

Queensland Certif ificate of Education (QCE) • Queensland’s senior schooling qualification • Internationally recognised • Awarded when you meet the set requirements • Shows employers and training providers that you have worked consistently and to a high standard over two years • May be required to enrol in further education and training

  5. How does QCE credit accrue? • 4 Credit Points available per subject (General or Applied) • Certificate III and higher accrue more points • Unit 1 = 1 Credit Point • Unit 2 = 1 Credit Point • Units 3 and 4 = 2 Credit Points • Duplicated learning will not be credited

  8. TAFE and VETiS Courses As of June 2014 the Government now funds students to complete 1 VET qualification from the Priority Skills List for free. Areas include, but are not limited to: • Construction • Tourism • Automotive Vocational Preparation • Electro technology (Career Start) • Engineering Pathways • Health Support Services • Hospitality • Logistics • Rural Operations • Hair and Beauty • Sport and Recreation • Students can attend TAFE one day per week over a semester or a year. • Selected courses will be offered at the school one day per week over a semester • Students will complete an EOI form during SET Plan Interview

SAT – School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship • Work with an employer as a paid employee • While studying for the QCE • Undertake a training qualification with an RTO chosen by both the employer and the student • Employment and/or training arrangements must impact on the school timetable for the program to be considered school-based.

  10. What is an ATAR? • ATAR score: 99.95 – (30.00 and below) • Decrease in increments of 0.05 • Rank score • Only 33 students will receive an ATAR of 99.95 • Currently 700-900 students receive an OP1 • English subject must be completed to a satisfactory standard (English, EAL or Essential English) • May not be included in ATAR calculation

ATAR Inputs • QTAC will receive the subject results from QCAA • QTAC automatically includes the 5 best results in the calculation • ATAR calculation will require one of these input models: • 5 General subject results • 4 General subjects + 1 Applied subject • 4 General subjects + 1 Certificate III or higher

  14. Career Passport • Has been stamped/signed for each presentation that students attend. • Students that have completed the passport are now in the draw for an IPAD mini!!!
