THE CARNEGIE CLASSIFICATION

The Carnegie Foundation’s Community Engagement (CE) Classification has been the leading framework for recognizing and describing institutional diversity in U.S. higher education for the past four decades The Carnegie Classification for CE is an elective classification, qualifying institutions that have sufficient breadth and depth in CE activities, processes and infrastructure.

• The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)

received the Carnegie Classification in 2015.

• MCW is one of four medical schools that have

received the classification.

• MCW also includes CE as one of its four

missions.
