Get A Jumpstart on College!

Earn college credit while in high school - 3 ways!

AP (Advanced Placement) and IB (International Baccalaureate) Courses Nationally or internationally recognized curriculum End of Course Exams will earn college credit CTAG Credit (Career Technical Assessment Guide) and College Tech Prep Articulation Agreements. End of Course Exams and Grades will earn credit Credit to be awarded after high school graduation and enrollment in college College Credit Plus (CCP) Courses College course enrollment if college-ready in grades 7 - 12

What is College Credit Plus?

  • An opportunity to learn at the college level

and earn college credit while in middle and/or high school for college-ready students

  • Available to students in grades 7-12 who meet

college level assessment requirements

  • No charge for college tuition, fees, or

textbooks

CCP Courses

Can

  • Be used to substitute for

many high school graduation requirements

  • Be used to begin college

coursework early

  • Explore areas of interest

Cannot

  • Be a remedial college class
  • Be religious in nature
  • Be a private music lesson
  • Be a physical education

CCP Courses - General

  • A 3 credit hour college course is worth 1 high

school credit

  • College courses are weighted on a 5 point

scale like AP and IB courses

  • Classes can be taken on campus, online, or in

a high school class with an adjunct college teacher where available

CCP Courses

  • Students can take up to

30 credit hours per year

  • Students can take up to

120 credit hours total

  • Students can take

courses in the fall, spring, or summer

  • Talk to your school

counselor about eligibility and course prerequisites

What’s the Risk?

  • College courses will appear on the high school

transcript and on a college transcript

  • If a student fails a course or withdraws after

the second week, the district must be reimbursed for the cost of the course.

  • Satisfactory or unsatisfactory academic

progress can impact future financial aid eligibility.

What’s the Process?

  • 1. Sign and return an Intent to Participate form

to your school counselor by April 1, 2019

  • 2. Meet with your school counselor to discuss

courses, eligibility, and to check your graduation requirements.

  • 3. Complete admission requirements for

desired college or university by deadlines, including ACT, SAT or ACCUPLACER.

  • 4. Schedule your courses with the CCP college

advisor at the university or college.
