How eTutoring Can Benefit Your Institution

Customization • Any school can have tutoring in all subjects available: – math, science, accounting, statistics, calculus, biology, research methods, information literacy, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and more in addition to the flagship writing tutoring. • All schools have access to synchronous and asynchronous tutoring sessions

Our Tutors (Your Tutors) • eTutoring uses trained, experienced, and evaluated writing tutors • A strength of eTutoring has always been institutions contributing the work of tutors they know and trust

Quality Control • eTutoring provides technical support through the Western Consortium • An annual review of writing tutors including self-review/reflection • Results shared with each institutions’ coordinator and with the tutor

Great Value • In AY 2018-19: – 1583 students used writing tutoring 2-3 times. – Over 500 used writing tutoring 5-6 times. – Over 100 used writing tutoring 10 times or more. • A student can use the eTutoring writing lab up to three times for each writing assignment

High Student Satisfaction • In AY 2018-19 academic year, students reported an overall satisfaction rate of 3.59 out of 4 for the tutoring received

Building Student Confidence • eTutoring tracks student confidence levels with the goal of increasing confidence through support • In AY 2018-19, fewer than half of students self-identified as confident or very confident (and fewer than 1/3 of ESL students) • Less confident students tend to use the service more frequently!

Archiving and Reporting • Records and archives are kept for all synchronous and asynchronous sessions • Coordinators have access to archives and records to address questions and issues as they arise • Each institution has access to its own stats, including tutor activity, synchronous and asynchronous sessions, student use, satisfaction, etc.

Flexibility • Your school’s eTutoring term is the date range that you provide • Opt in or out of summer (annual contracts include summer… cost is based on total annual sessions) • Tutors schedules are created by eTutoring coordinator, but you tell us when to schedule your tutors

Training • eTutoring trains your tutors in eTutoring protocols • Self-paced, interactive training modules • Master tutor – reviews new tutor submissions – helps determine when tutors are ready – communicates with campus coordinators – supports new tutors as they begin, offering suggestions through the first three months of tutoring
