When purchasing a product, check if its EPA registration number is included on this list. If it is, you have a match and the product can be used against SARS-CoV-2. You can find this number on the product label – just look for the EPA Reg. No. These products may be marketed and sold under different brand names, but if they have the same EPA registration number, they are the same product.

Choosing Products Product names can be confusing

• The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases defines emerging infectious

diseases/pathogens as those “that have newly appeared in a population or have existed but are rapidly increasing in incidence or geographic range.” Many of the emerging pathogens of greatest concern are pathogenic viruses, and the ability of some of these viruses to persist on environmental surfaces can play a role in human disease transmission. SARS-CoV-2 is such a pathogenic virus.

• Because the occurrence of emerging viral pathogens is less common and predictable than

established pathogens, few if any EPA-registered disinfectant product labels specify use against this category of infectious agents. Therefore, in 2016, EPA provided a voluntary, two-stage process to enable use of certain EPA-registered disinfectant products against emerging viral pathogens not identified on the product label.

Basically, no products have a specific claim for COVID-19. But products with proven efficacy against similar pathogens can be awarded an emerging pathogen claim that is the primary recommendation for combating COVID-19 on surfaces. Victoria Bay has 3 products with an emerging pathogen claim

According to the CDC, if there are no available EPA-registered hospital grade disinfectants that have an approved emerging viral pathogen claim for COVID-19, products with label claims against human coronaviruses should be used according to label instructions. Again, no products have a specific claim for COVID-19. But products with a claim against Human Coronavirus may be used if there are no products with an emerging pathogen claim available.
