Education and teaching arrangements

The University organises its core educational activities in the Autumn Semester of 2020/2021 by harmonising two interests:

  • that of the personal and community nature of quality

university education and learning

  • and the aspect hindering the spread of the epidemic,

i.e., the interest in reducing the number of personal contacts.

slide-5
SLIDE 5

COVID regulations

  • Wearing a mask is a general obligation applying to

everyone

  • It is the responsibility of each University Citizen to obtain

and have the appropriate mask

  • Keep the epidemiological mandatory distance (at least 1.5

meters)

  • It is not allowed to enter the university premises and

community with showing symptoms of the coronavirus (or having high risk of carrying the virus)

slide-6
SLIDE 6
slide-7
SLIDE 7

COVID regulations

  • When entering the buildings, a mandatory check of

your body temperature will take place

  • Should it be higher than 37.0 °C you will not be

allowed to enter the buildings. If this happens, arrange a meeting with us

slide-8
SLIDE 8

COVID suspicion

In case you recognise the sympthoms of COVID:

  • 1. Stay at your accommodation
  • 2. Call your health insurance company immediately
  • Uniqa: tel. Number on the emergency card
  • Generali: +3630678-6450 or +3630815-2218

Education and teaching arrangements

Hybrid education: the course may be organised in the following forms: a) a course requiring the student’s in-person attendance (in-person / on campus courses) b) online course which may be ba) a synchronous online course in which the instructor and students participate online in real time at the time specified in the syllabus bb) an asynchronous online course in which the instructor and students participate online but not in real time c) a blended course which may be ca) a combination of courses according to points a) and ba) cb) a combination of courses according to points a) and bb)

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Education and teaching arrangements

Request for online registration/education

Request for online registration/education: a) the entry of the student into Hungary is hindered due to the situation surrounding the pandemic (visa issues, flight cancellations, etc.) b) the student has been diagnosed with a disease that makes their participation in in-person classes risky c) the student belongs to a vulnerable age group d) the student shares a household with person at risk according to points b) or c) during their studies, e) other justifiable reasons. The decision on the request is made by the Dean of the student's home faculty. The permission is valid until the circumstance giving rise to the request ceases, but no later than the end of the semester. Note: (a) above means you can complete the semester online until you arrive in Budapest, which may only happen in Feb 2021 (for your second semester)

slide-12
SLIDE 12

Reminder

  • We can guarantee on campus classes to those who arrive during the
  • rientation week (closing on 4 Sept)
  • Why? Because we have limited classroom capacities (6-10 students instead of 15), it is

no easy finding teachers, etc.

  • If you arrive later, there may be room for you in on campus classes, but we

can’t guarantee it

  • You should arrive by mid September
  • End of Sept for SH students
  • If you cannot arrive by mid Sept (visa, flight, etc., issues), consider postponing

your studies until Feb 2021 or ask for online education and complete the first semester online, and then arrive in Feb after your visa has come through in Sept/Oct (or later). Not ideal, but better than nothing.

  • REMINDER: do NOT plan to arrive for classes in October, November

(registration will be IMPOSSIBLE)

  • Why? Our absence policy: by October you will have missed 30% of the classes
  • If you decide to complete the first semester online, hand in REQUEST (find

word form in this team) asap

slide-13

ELTE HYBRID EDUCATION

So what is this hybrid education? Hybrid education: the way of education in the autumn semester 2020/21 Courses: In person / on campus and online Students: In person / on campus education OR online education Possibilites:

  • students attending on campus education may have in person and online courses
  • students in online education (ONLY with request): participate in online courses

NOTE: If you arrive after the orientation week by mid September, we cannot guarantee that you will have space in the on campus courses. Why? Our possibilities are limited, the capacities of classrooms shrunk from 15 to 10 or 6/7. We fill them up as you arrive, so if you arrive late, we can’t guarantee that you will have space in the

  • n campust classes, but online classes will still be available
