What have RBFA Achieved • Over the past 10 years a very significant reduction in incidents attended • Have taken the difficult decisions to close fire stations • Have reviewed RDS Firefighters and committed to improve RDS Firefighter availability

Potential Key Issues for RBFA • The key issues can be grouped under:  Political leadership  Strategic direction • Along with some key questions for consideration

Political Leadership • How the FA can further engage with the community in delivering the service • To introduce new ways of working that protect front line services but deliver efficiencies

Strategic Direction • Quantify FA cost per head of population with the benefit to the community of Berkshire • Investigate the potential to be a commissioning or commissioned service • Identify and engage in further spend to save improvements at both local and regional level • Undertake a 10 year review of IRMP to confirm that resource meets risk and benchmark with other Fire Authorities

Important Questions for Consideration • With the advent of Thames Valley Fire Control to explore the possibility of merging with other Thames Valley FA’s • To review and benchmark the FA with other combined fire authorities to assess if the governance structure is still appropriate
