The International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA)

✓ Initiated by Rockefeller Foundation in 2015 ✓ Dedicated to knowledge exchange and partnership development on innovation with impact at scale ✓ Developed and just published a framework for scaling innovationhttp://insights.globalinnovationexchange.org/idia- insights-home

The IDIA scaling framework has three interrelated components:

✓ Provides a framework for us to assess the scalability and sustainability of investments, to map and assess instruments and comparative advantages, to sequence interventions, and to plan for systematic exit/hand-off ✓ Enhances communication, knowledge and collaboration among potential partners ✓ Can help identify gaps for further support, esp. focus innovation funders on scaling stages 3-6

Component 2: Eight Good Practices for Scaling

✓ Framework focuses on key dimension of funder engagement with innovators/implementers, including:

▪ Vision of scale ▪ Alternative options ▪ Pathways to scale ▪ Scalability and sustainability (influencing factors) ▪ Instruments and roles ▪ Partnerships ▪ Sequencing ▪ Measurement and learning
