  • Virtual classroom is a replica of the local class room

teaching where in the students at remote locations will get the same feel and experience as if they are in the same classroom .

  • Teacher and students have full interactivity with each
  • ther
  • Teacher will be able to use all conventional teaching tools

and continue to teach the way he does.

  • Students can ask questions and interact with the teacher

as if he is in the local classroom

What’s planned? -MPLS L3 VPN

VPN service is enabled on PEs (VRFs are created and applied to VPN site interface)

VPN site’s IITm connects to a VRF enabled interface on a PE1

VPN site routing by IITm is distributed to MP-iBGP on PE1

PE1 allocates VPN label for each prefix, sets itself as a next hop and relays VPN site routes to PE4

PE4 distributes IITm’s routes to IITb (Similar happens from IITb’s side) VRF VRF VRF LDP LDP LDP iBGP—VPNv4 Label Exchange iBGP—VPNv4 iBGP—VPNv4 PE1 PE4 PE3 IGCAR IITb IIT m BARC P1 P2 VRF VRF PE2 VRF

National Knowledge Network Model Projects

Model Projects: approved by MPEC (Model Projects Evaluation Committee)

The virtual medical classroom: an emerging tool for teaching Medicine and science. (AIIMS)

The main objective behind the project is to help the students from other medical colleges to have similar standard of teaching as available to students studying at AIIMS.

Network Enabled Medical diagnosis and Education in Skeletal Imaging using X-Rays.

Providing suitable tools and channels for huge data transmission of 2D X-Ray and 3D anatomical data

Collected data to be used by Experts (Doctors) for remote Diagnosis

Creation of a Public repository for education purposes.

Indian Integration with Global Imaging System via McGill Linkage, NBRC, Manesar

To develop a national imaging networking model between NBRC / its linked institutions and MNI/its linked institutions for using the Canadian and Global Brain facilities.

Computational imaging analysis and telemedicine with special references to epilepsy, dementia and stroke which are the neurological dysfunction with maximal morbidity in India.

Network enabled online Casting Simulation System (e-Foundry), IIT, Bombay

It is developed for use by technical institutes and local SME foundries.

Engineering students will be able to carry out virtual casting experiments and study the effect of various design parameters on casting solidification and related defects.
