WPA Convenience Stations - not many left now….. Restroom replacements in the last15 years are already looking shabby inside……..not a great very exciting budget item, but a necessity that deserves an upgrading!!

Current clubhouse was built by the WPA in 1938-39, opened in 1940 SFMYC was founded in 1898 at Stow Lake. Their members lobbied for their own lake, and in 1904 Speckels Lake was created as a reservoir & club facility.

Busy as it is on Cross Over Drive, there is very little noise or sight of the traffic when you are below on JFK Dr.
SLIDE 14 Once the Strybing Trust was made available, Eric Walther was appointed the first director of the San Francisco Botanical Garden in 1937. Working in collaboration with John McLaren, they laid out the initial plan for the pubic use of the Botanical Garden.
