 The primary LUN receives the write request of the

production host, and then the data is simultaneously written onto the primary LUN and secondary LUN. If the data is successfully written

write request is processed successfully. HyperMirror/A (Asynchronous MIrroring)

 The primary LUN receives the write request of the

HyperImage Operating Principles

Basic Operating Principles

 Before activating HyperImage, you need to create a

snapshot resource pool and then select a source LUN.

 After activating HyperImage, the system creates a

mapping table that records the mapping relation of the data on the source LUN.

 When a new data needs to be written onto the source

LUN, the original data on the source LUN is firstly transmitted onto the resource LUN and the mapping table is modified simultaneously, and then the new data is written onto the source LUN. The copy-on-write technology is applied in this procedure.

 When another new data needs to be written onto the

same location on the source LUN, the current data is not transmitted onto the resource LUN but overwritten by the new data.

 You can instantly recover the data at the snapshot point in

time through the snapshot rollback.

Operating Principles of Full HyperCopy

 Full HyperCopy means to copy all the data on

the source LUN to the target LUN.

 Full HyperCopy should be implemented offline. If

the source LUN receives write requests during the copy process, data on the target LUN may become inconsistent in time with that on the source LUN; therefore, the write requests to the source LUN should be paused during the copy process. Operating Principles of Incremental HyperCopy

 The data on the source LUN and that on the

target LUN are initially synchronized when HyperCopy is started for the first time.

 When new data is written onto the source LUN,

the incremental data amount is recorded. When HyperCopy is started again, the system copies

  • nly the incremental data from the source LUN
  • nto the target LUN.

 The incremental data overwrites the data on the

target LUN and becomes the new synchronized data.

Integration of FC and IP The S2600 integrates the technologies

  • f FC and IP and uses the independent

GE data-processing chip and FC data- processing chip to process data from the IP and FC networks. The S2600 also supports the FC SAN and IP SAN. Integration of SAS and SATA The S2600 supports the mixing of SAS and SATA disks. SAS or SATA disks can be chosen according to the service requirements.
