Juliette Gordon Low Birthday

  • Juliette Magill Kinzie Gordon was born on

October 31, 1860 in Savannah, Georgia

  • Juliette was captain of a rowing team and loved

to swim and canoe

  • Juliette was able to stand on her head and did so

at every opportunity. She even did it in the board room of National Headquarters to show off the new Girl Scout shoes

  • She died from breast cancer at the age of 67 in

1927 and her friends established the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund to honor her

Two-way communication is valued by troop leaders. Crowd-sourced support from peers and support from specific council staff are most helpful. Current digital tools and resources from Girl Scouts are rated as less helpful.

Cultivating positive adult relationships can reduce risk for troop leaders and their troops.

 At Risk troop leaders are frustrated and/or feel their troop has problems  25% of our troop leaders are at risk.  Troop leaders who have trouble working with adults are more at risk.

Troop leaders especially need help communicating, managing conflict, and setting expectations w/ adults.

 Communication, conflict management, and setting clear expectations are key to success in cultivating positive adult relationships.  Top sources of co-leader tensions are:  Some challenges are related to manageable differences in communication preferences.
