Option Subjects can be chosen by students while applied core subjects will be directed by schools.

SEAC: MATSEC Applied Programme

  • 60% -70%school based assessment and 40%- 30% controlled summative

assessment (exams).

  • Students may enter MC

MCAST and IT ITS at level 1, 2 or 3 according to the results

  • btained in each of the SEAC subjects as agreed with MCAST and ITS.
  • Learners will also follow subjects in the other NCF learning areas.
  • Accredited non formal programmes such the XL Achieve programme to be

included as part of the Applied Programme.

For learners who have decided to follow the academic route or the vocational route at post-secondary level. Learners will retain the possibility of choosing both academic and vocational option subjects. Learners may further their studies at Junior College, MCAST, Higher Secondary, ITS and institutions others according to entry requirements

All students will be given a booklet on which to indicate their option choice. The booklet also explains the following:

  • All academic subjects will continue to be offered in all schools.
  • Vocational and Applied subjects are offered in a school according to availability of
  • workshops. However all vocational and applied subjects will be offered to all
