slide-16
SLIDE 16

Potential Approaches (Proposed by FTA)

FTA regional staff who work directly with tribes need advanced understanding of tribal sovereignty, federal trust responsibility, and culturally-sensitive communication. FTA Headquarters could implement monthly G2G peer-to- peer learning sessions for Tribal Liaisons in 2020. Tribes could advise FTA on curriculum and serve as special guests at sessions. NEED: IDEA: NEED: IDEA: FTA program managers and leadership need understanding of key concepts in tribal sovereignty and federal trust responsibilities. FTA could develop an introductory training module for FTA staff through 2020. Tribes could advise FTA on curriculum and key learning objectives.
