  • ne to ten. We had a wonderful time thinking of rhyming words, but got a little bit stuck when we

had to think of a word to rhyme with seven. Maybe you could help you giraffe think of some words to rhyme with the numbers, so when we sing the song tomorrow we can hear some new ideas… After our sing along, the children listened to some storybooks, ‘The Little Red Hen” and “The Big Red Bath” and worked on some Lettergetter puzzles. Just look at Gavin identifying lower case l on the page...Clever boy

All week we have been thinking about spatial awareness, specifi- cally the language we use to de- scribe position. We are really clever at using our bodies to move around, under and over, and to- day we extended our experience to include technology. The children have been practising use of the beebots recently, and today they were challenged to programme them to travel under the table, around the rug and so on. With support, our little giraffes showed not only a clear understanding of the language of position, but also some really good programming skills…

As the children used numeracy to programme their bee bots, we selected some extra numeracy games and toys to enjoy. Ilan and Lilliana replicated shapes from cue cards, Kaitlyn and Charli counted beads using the counting stones, William used the mathslink cubes to make numerals and Isabella used the chain links to count and match to number cards…..We love the fact that these children are such quick learners and such inquisitive little ones.
