What is the Spatial Plan? • Sets out at a District level what types of development will happen, where and at what intensity – looking beyond 2030 out to 2050+ • Not a plan that sets out detailed land use • Structure Plans to follow with the detailed land use • Methodology - issues and thinking pieces, then local leaders (symposium) to shape a vision / scenario’s • Community then to engage with a suite of scenario’s (tools and focus on youth, key stakeholders) • Completion by end of year
Why now? • Paused process because of Connect Rotorua project / uplifting of the REA designation • Proposed District Plan becoming Operative • Umbrella tool to promote and manage growth down in to other documents and plans
Vision and consultation • Vision drives the Spatial Plan Increasing community • Futurism Symposium – scenario’s involvement • Consultation
