First Successful Village Adoption by a Nationalized Bank in India

 123 acre agricultural project at Cuddalore  Organized 1st village adoption programme by a nationalized bank

(SBI) in 1969

 100% repayment on time  Poorest village became most prosperous  Multiplier effect spread to 10 villages  SBI extended scheme All-India for Rs 100 crores the next year  More than 1 lakh villages adopted in 10 years

Collaboration with Gorbachev

 In 1994, MSS collaborated with former USSR President Mikhail

Gorbachev to organize an international conference in Moscow on alternative strategies for economic transition in Eastern Europe.

 President Gorbachev chaired most of the sessions.

Hyperinflation in Yugoslavia

 Studied relationship between inflation & development in India  Studied Soviet strategy in 1920s.  In 1993-4,

Yugoslavia suffered highest inflation recorded in world history

 MSS team member Dragoslav Avramovic appointed Governor of

central bank

 Inflation wiped out in a few weeks

New Economic Theory

There is an urgent need today to understand why the old theories were created, where and why they fail now and then propose a feasible, more efficient

Early Childhood Education

 MSS conducted applied educational research on new teaching

methods, including extensive use of computers from an early age, at the Society’s Primrose School.

 Primrose has been widely recognized as the most advanced

institution for early childhood education in Pondicherry. In 2006-7,

Pondicherry to the eighth standard.

 In 2007 Primrose became the first school in Pondicherry to
