Success Story

10

  • T. Swisher relocated to Virginia to live with his aunt!
  • Mr. Swisher had been experiencing homelessness throughout the states of California and

Nevada for over 5 years, after losing his home and job.

  • TS and the Beach Cities Outreach Team met at the lunchtime meal at St. Andrews Church after

he approached volunteers requesting help. TS shared that he had most recently been in San Diego and had traveled to Los Angeles a few weeks before, settling in Redondo Beach when discovering the plentiful resources and available meals. Mr. Swisher and the Outreach Team worked together to reconnect with his aunt in Virginia. Within a few days, he and the Case Manager were able to speak with his aunt, and she agreed to allow him to come live with her in Virginia where she will assist him in getting a good job and eventually his own home.

  • The team purchased Mr. Swisher a bus ticket to Virginia and provided him with a $50 meal card

to assist him in getting food along his trip. On 10/22/2019 – the Outreach Team took TS to the bus stop where he began his journey to Virginia to be reunited with family.
