Current status of persistent identifiers at Montana State Library:
- 2009-12-28 Date of the first created PURL at MSL.
- 2015-08-19 Date of the last PURL created at MSL.
- 7,759 Total number of PURLs created by MSL.
- 26,443 Total number of items at Internet Archive.
Issues:
- Inability to create new PURLs using the same prefix.
- Minimal PURL service support.
- Staff turnover. Missing documentation.
- Cursory research indicates modest rate of adoption by institutional repositories
- worldwide. Also, DNS name system controlled by outside organizations.
