Introduction

  • ProtoDUNE-SP Production II was proposed on Mar 20, 2019
  • https://indico.fnal.gov/event/20215/contribution/3/material/slides/0.pdf
  • What was available at that time
  • Calibrated beamline information
  • Updated noise mitigation and ADC gain calibration
  • 2D deconvolution
  • New developments since then
  • Updated photon detector simulation
  • T0 reconstruction (Pandora, CRT, anode-piercing tracks)
  • Space charge calibration

Photon detector simulation

  • Main developer: Laura Paulucci,

Alex Himmel

  • Update geometry with ARAPUCA

modules and produce photon library

  • New photon library was done on

July 14

  • v7 geometry with ARAPUCA

modules was finalized on Aug 12.

  • During this development, a bug with

photon detector backtracker was found by SBND and fixed by Jason

  • Stock. This reduced the memory

usage in the simulation.

Pandora updates

  • Main developer: Steve Green
  • Pandora was updated to include t0

tagging for anode crossing tracks, done on July 17.

  • Thanks to Martin Tzanov for

updating the geometry with the correct active volume on the cryostat size.

  • Pandora MVA vertexing was

trained for test beam particle interactions at ProtoDUNE, done

  • n July 25.

CRT geometry updates

  • Main developer: Martin Tzanov
  • Updated CRT geometry using the survey results.
  • Also other updates: TPC dimensions, active volume size on the

cryostat side.

  • Finalized on July 21.

CRT reconstruction

  • Main developer: Richie Diurba
  • Match CRT information with TPC tracks.
  • First version available on June 26:
  • The code went through several iterations to reduce memory usage for

two CRT matching and improve purity for single CRT matching.

  • Finalized on Aug 13

Anode piercing tracks t0

  • Main developer: Josh Thompson, Leigh Whitehead
  • Port similar algorithm from MicroBooNE to reconstruct t0 for

anode piercing tracks.

material/slides/0.pdf

  • First available on July 23. Finalized on Aug 13 after several

minor bug fixes.

Space charge calibration

  • Main developer: Mike Mooney, Hannah Rogers
  • First version of data driven map available on May 21.
  • Mike made several corrections to the space charge service on

an airplane on July 1.

  • Results looked much improved.
  • Second version of data driven map available on July 3 to

improve the boundary issue.

  • Tianle Liu and Ajib Paudel found a bug in simulation of SCE on

Aug 6, which was fixed by Mike on the same day.

  • Aaron Higuera found an issue in his electron analysis. The was

improved in the third version (latest) of data driven map on Aug 9.

Conclusions

  • Huge amount of efforts over the past several months.
  • Achieved a much better understanding of the SCE and

developed many new tools.

  • Many young people have gained a lot of experience with data

analysis in LArTPC and are well prepared for DUNE.

  • Validation, validation, validation…
  • Code included in production needs to be thoroughly tested.
  • Thanks to many people who are always ready to look at new

samples to find problems: Ajib, Heng-Ye, Aaron, Steve, and many

  • thers.
  • Will tag release v08_27_01 for production soon.
