SLIDE 26 This Presentation suggests possible content, achievements etc. which could be presented by Candidates for SL Promotion. It is not a finite set of achievements which must be reached by Candidates or a specific set of achievements which will guarantee promotion to a Candidate.
You are asked to give a self-assessment of your strengths (Satisfactory/Excellent) in each category – Research, T&L and Contribution ; this is to assist you in presenting a realistic case in the three areas. However, this is an indicative self-assessment exercise that does not tie you to stay in your predicted ‘Satisfactory’ or ‘Excellent’ band and it will not preclude you from being scored either above or below your own projection of your achievements. Each of the categories will be scored from 1-10 by your College Committee. If Candidates reach 4 in a particular category they will be deemed to have reached a threshold Satisfactory standard in that category. If they reach 7, they will be deemed to have reached an threshold Excellent standard in that category. Candidates who achieve a threshold score of at least 7 (Excellent) in one category and at least 4 (Satisfactory) in the remaining two will be shortlisted by their College Committee on the basis of their aggregate score over the three headings. The shortlisted candidates will then be ranked by the College Committee on the basis of their aggregate score over the three headings, with a further evaluation step to rank candidates with the same aggregate score. The College Committee will forward their rankings and scores, with explanatory comments, to the UCAATP. For full details, see page 4 of the Guidelines to Candidates
