Approval and Anointing • God’s approval (Matthew 12:18a) • chosen by the Father • well-pleasing: in secret (Matthew 3:17) and in public (Matthew 17:5) • God’s anointing (Matthew 12:18b-20) • proclaim judgment over sin • tamed: no self-seeking, self-defense, or sefl-promotion • helping the helpless
