Items for a Future City to consider
- Energy Contexts
– What resources will provide primary energy sources for transportation, energy for homes and businesses, etc.? – What portion of that energy should be renewable, and how will it be harvested, collected, and stored? – What fringe alternatives should we be thinking about for the future? For instance, wind and solar energy were outlandish concepts 100 years ago…
- Food Contexts
– What constitutes a healthy diet, and how are those components going to be made available for a population? – What considerations have been made for food production (growing crops and animals), processing (preserving food for use throughout the year), supply chain (getting food into the city if imported), and waste handling (both in processing but also in homes) – Are there underutilized nutrient sources that could become a major food resource in the future? How would that resource be harvested, refined, and preserved.
