will show you.

3 I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will curse;

(EX 19:16-19) 16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very

loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because YHWH descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain[fn] trembled violently. 19 As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.

EXODUS 20:1-20 1 And God spoke all these words: 2 “I am YHWH your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in

the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, YHWH your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of YHWH your God, for YHWH will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his

name.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh

day is a sabbath to YHWH your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days YHWH made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore YHWH blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land YHWH your God is giving you. 13 “You shall not murder. 14 “You shall not commit adultery. 15 “You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female

servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they

trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.”

20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to

keep you from sinning.”

EXODUS 23:14-17 14 “Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me. 15 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded

• you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.

“No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

16 “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.

“Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.

17 “Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign YHWH.

1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron

and said, “Come, make us gods[fn] who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” 2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to

• Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool.

Then they said, “These are your gods Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to YHWH.” 6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.

7 Then YHWH said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become

• corrupt. 8 They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in

the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’ 9 “I have seen these people,” YHWH said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people.

• NO OTHER GODS BEFORE YHWH
• DON’T MAKE IDOLS
• DON’T BOW DOWN TO THEM
• DON’T USE YHWH’S NAME IN VAIN

(EX 23:24) 24 Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and

break their sacred stones to pieces.

(LEV 18:1-5)1 YHWH said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am YHWH your God. 3 You must not

do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am YHWH your God. 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am YHWH.

(LEV 20:22-23) 22 “ ‘Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may

not vomit you out. 23 You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them. 24 But I said to you, “You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am YHWH your God, who has set you apart from the nations.

25 The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for

yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to YHWH your God. 26 Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

(DEUT 12:4)4 You must not worship YHWH your God in their way (DEUT 12:29-32) 29 YHWH your God will cut off before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when

you have driven them out and settled in their land, 30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.” 31 You must not worship YHWH your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things YHWH hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. 32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

1 KINGS 18:17-21, 36-40 17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?” 18 “I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned

YHWH’s commands and have followed the Baals. 19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

20 So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. 21 Elijah went before the

people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If YHWH is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed, YHWH the God of Abraham, Isaac and

Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, YHWH, answer me, so these people will know that you, YHWH, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

38 Then the fire of the YHWH fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up

the water in the trench.

39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “YHWH—he is God! YHWH—he is God!” 40 Then Elijah commanded them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let anyone get away!” They seized them, and

Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.

JOHN 4:19-26 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you

Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Yeshua replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this

mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Yeshua declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.” JOHN 14: 15, 21, 23-24 15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my

Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

23 Yeshua replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them

and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in

• heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not

prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

We should all strive to hear I KNOW YOU

How do we hear that? How do we worship YHWH?

• Worship Him in Spirit - everything you are - and the Truth - no falsehoods.
• Obey His Commands, which include:
• Honor your parents, don’t murder, steal, commit adultery, lie or covet
• Know His Name and Honor it, don’t use it vainly
• Make no idols, nor worship them, nor worship YHWH in those ways

(don’t mix!)

• Keep His appointed Times, beginning with the Sabbath

SCRIPTURE IS CLEAR, THIS IS HOW WE WORSHIP. YET, THIS ISN’T HOW OUR CULTURE OR THE CHURCH IS DOING THINGS. WHY NOT? NOWHERE IN SCRIPTURE OUR THESE THINGS CHANGED. WHAT HAPPENED? THE GENTILE BELIEVERS FROM GREECE, ROME, EGYPT, AND ELSEWHERE EVENTUALLY DID THE SAME THINGS THE EARLY SAMARITANS DID. 2 KINGS 17:32-35 32 They worshiped YHWH, but they also appointed all sorts of their own people to officiate for them as priests in the shrines at the high places. 33 They worshiped YHWH, but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought. 34 To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship YHWH nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that YHWH gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel. 35 When YHWH made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them: “Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. THE JEWISH BELIEVERS EVENTUALLY FOLLOWED SUIT.

• THE NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD CELEBRATED THEIR IDOLS’ BIRTHDAY AT THE WINTER

SOLSTICE AND BROUGHT THIS CONCEPT WITH THEM, APPLYING IT TO YESHUA, DESPITE THE FACT HE WASN’T BORN THEN. (FALL HARVEST SEASON)

• THE NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD CELEBRATED FERTILITY FESTIVALS AND THE CONCEPTION

OF THEIR IDOLS AT THE SPRING EQUINOX AND BROUGHT THIS CONCEPT WITH THEM, IGNORING THE COMMAND TO ALWAYS REMEMBER THE PASSOVER.

• THE NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD SOUGHT TO ATTRACT OTHERS TO THEIR “NEW”FAITH BY

CO-OPTING THEIR PRACTICES, YET YHWH SAID HE FINDS THEIR BEHAVIOR DETESTABLE.

• THE NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD SOUGHT TO DIVORCE THEMSELVES FROM ANYTHING NOT

THEM - AS IN “JEWISH” -AND THUS REJECTED THE TRUTH OF YHWH. JEWS DO THE SAME, REJECTING ANYTHING NOT THEM AND THUS REJECT THE TRUTH OF YHWH.

WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

IN TRUTH THIS IS WHY WE DON’T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS. WE KNOW IT’S FUN. MOST OF US USED TO DO IT. BUT WHAT’S MORE IMPORTANT? FUN? OR YHWH? WE CAN’T SERVE TWO MASTERS. EVERY HONEST OBJECTION TO OUR STANCE CAN BE ANSWERED IN WHAT’S BEEN PRESENTED HERE TODAY, SAVE ONE. THE IDEA THAT THE TORAH WAS DONE AWAY WITH, AND THUS THE COMMANDS YHWH GAVE AND JUDGED ISRAEL ON NO LONGER APPLY. THAT’S WHAT I’M GOING TO ADDRESS IN MY NEXT MESSAGE.
