 Cantaloupe: 11 varieties; Triploid watermelon: 35 varieties  Density  Fertilizer

Fertilizer Rate (lb/acre) Urea (46-0-0) 300 Potassium chloride (0-0-60) 200 Diammonium phosphate (18-46-0) 100 Boron 14.3% 7 Pelletized lime 200

Cantaloupe: Bed spacing 6 ft, in-row spacing 2.5 ft Watermelon: Bed spacing 8 ft, in-row spacing 4 ft. Pollenizer ‘SP-6’, interplanted between every two triploid plants

 Planting and Harvesting dates

Transplanting: May 14 Harvesting: cantaloupe (July 15 to July 31, 8 times); Watermelon (July 28, Aug 4, Aug 13)

 Experimental design

Randomized complete block design, 3 blocks Cantaloupe: 22 plants per variety per plot; Watermelon: 12 triploid watermelons per variety per plot
