the 6th grade by providing rigorous and relevant course work and opportunities to enroll in advanced and high school classes during middle school.

Schedule Pickup Days: August 6th & 7th Supply lists and bus information will be available during schedule pick up in August. Hallway Lockers are $5.00 and will be available for purchase (can also be purchased online). PE Lockers are $5.00 and will be available for purchase (can also be purchased online). PE Uniforms are $20.00 and will be available for purchase (can also be purchased online).

CREDITS
The Florida Legislature states that 6th grade students must successfully complete the following by the end of 8th grade in order to be promoted to high school: 3 credits in English/LA 3 credits in Math 3 credits in Social Studies
(must include a Civics course)
3 credits in Science
CREDITS
Successful completion is defined as a grade of D or
- better. Courses that are not successfully completed
must be re-taken. Students are evaluated each quarter: A=4pts B=3pts C=2pts D=1pt Students who fail a course could be:
- 1. Retained in 6th grade
- 2. Required to attend summer school
- 3. Required to re-take the course in
place of an elective class
6th GRADE Course Offerings
The required courses, based on FSA scores and teacher recommendations, are: Math Science Social Studies Language Arts (Reading is NOT required for students who are proficient
- n the ELA FSA. i.e. Scores of 3 or better)
Students will be placed into an Intensive Reading 1 or 2 class in lieu of an elective or PE course based on previous FSA scores. ALL students will take the IC3 Sparks class. It will introduce computer skills and digital citizenship.

and reviewed electives.
Students were given their elective form to
complete and sign with their parents.
Completed form must be returned to your
student’s 5th grade teacher by their set due date.

CHOOSE YOUR ELECTIVES WISELY! Only academic changes will be made. Do not choose electives based on what your friends are choosing. It is very unlikely that you would have the same class together.
