A Scottish settlement built upon a gold rush in the 19th century! In the 1900’s Mark Twain visited Dunedin and said “the people here are Scots, they stopped here on their way to Heaven thinking they have arrived.” Dunedin is small & compact student city with a population 120,000. 20% students. Accommodation placement by the university in a residential house with other students
- Housing managed directly by the University of Otago
- Kiwi Host System (At least one kiwi student in almost all of the flats)
- Flats are located within the main neighbourhoods of local students who are privately
renting other flats (North Dunedin - largest population of under 25 year olds in NZ!)
- Support staff in direct communication with the International Office, ensuring student well-
being and familiarity with all of our study abroad partners.
- Social activities are organised throughout the semester by University Flats.

Free entry for Otago students! On-campus and connected to Dunedin’s new stadium, just 10 minutes walk from the centre of campus. Completed and opened in 2012!
