SAT Subject Tests
- SAT Subject Tests are 1 hour
tests that allow students to demonstrate achievement in a specific subject
- Subject tests are required for
SOME college applications and certain majors (especially STEM)

- Students who are strong in a subject should consider
taking the SAT Subject Test in May or June
○Examples: Physics, World Language or US History
- Up to 3 subject tests in one sitting
- Good scores strengthen an application, & low scores will
not harm an application
FINANCIAL AID = $$ FOR COLLEGE
- The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is
an online financial aid application that EVERY college-bound student should complete
- Submit starting in October
- Undocumented students can use the California DREAM
financial aid application

11th Grade:
- Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at

- Take the ACT or SAT, and include the NCAA Eligibility
Center (Code “9999”) as a score recipient
- If you need to make up any classes, do so by THIS SUMMER!
12th Grade:
- Send an official transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center

Course Request Forms
- Take a moment to write your name & counselor’s name at the top
- At the top, write “Bring to counselor appointment”
- CHOOSE CAREFULLY… it may be impossible to make changes
in the fall!
- After March 1st, you can’t make changes in Aeries on your own
- Got questions? Save them for your one-on-one meeting with
your counselor in March!

- Students are required to add ALTERNATE courses
for all electives and AP Math & Science Courses
- Add alternates in Aeries AND on your course
selection sheet COUNSELORS WILL NOT APPROVE COURSE REQUESTS WITHOUT ALTERNATES!

How to Request Courses in Aeries
Logging into Aeries
- Go to the Mills Student Portal, then click Aeries on right
- Use your @stu.smuhsd.org account to log in. Password should
be the same as your school email account (last 6 digits of ID + 2-digit date of birth).
- If it doesn’t work, click “Forgot Password,” then LOG INTO
YOUR SCHOOL EMAIL to click on link to reset password.
- Do not try too many passwords or it will lock you out!
- If it doesn’t recognize your @stu.smuhsd.org account, you will
need to create a new account. Ask us for your verification code.
