Alexandrite 755nm and Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelengths can be blended to fired independently or simultaneously, with varying proportions to tailor treatment, according to the individual’s skin. type, hair color and thickness allowing safe and effective treatment.

Why Blend two wavelengths?

With the existing Alex/YAG systems, the provider will choose either an Alex OR a YAG for the patient, based off of skin type. Because 755nm is so highly absorbed into melanin, it is not safe touse that wavelength on darker skin types. You could turn the fluence way down and be safe, but the treatment would be ineffective for hair removal. For darker skin types, IV-VI, safe treatment can be provided with a 1064nm (YAG) laser. High fluence is required by this wavelength because the absorption by melanin is much lower (roughly 10x) than with 755nm. Pain would be significant for a skin type I-III, if you were to use enough fluence to effectively treat for hair removal. Alex/YAG laser with a unique innovation that can blend the two wavelengths together to maximize safety and efficacy.
