Building Sustainable Educator & Employer partnerships: Translating Education and Research to ensure Sustainable Quality Management Practices

Mission To empower and sustain individuals and organisations in the community, voluntary and disability sector by engaging in research, education and training to embed a culture of quality and excellence through proven governance and sustainable quality systems.

Scope Sustainable Quality is continuously and effectively meeting and exceeding the needs of all stakeholders in the community, voluntary and disability sector. The Centre of Excellence is committed to building sustainable communities of practice and service provision with appropriate governance and sustainable quality systems within the changing social, economic and political context.

Historical Development

• The success of undergraduate and postgraduate education

and research courses in Quality Management (in operation since autumn 2011, delivered by UL/DFI)

• Recent Innovation and Problem Solving courses, which have

been designed specifically to examine current thinking and develop new approaches to issues concerning the community, voluntary and disability sector.

• Of particular interest is the engagement of the community

with what are often perceived as “manufacturing concepts” such as Lean and Six Sigma.
