Updated WBS

  • We are version “v4” for our WBS. Latest version “v4a”. Please use

the latest version.

  • Separate WBS files for SP and DP

– This is the recommendation from the project office – We are a joint consortium and we will conduct our activities as

  • such. The SP/DP separation is only for WBS as it makes things

easier from the project side with e.g. costing.

– In our case, SP is the first detector and DP is the second detector – Common SP/DP activities that occur only once are included

under SP (see next slide)

Common Items

Items common to both SP and DP are only included once in SP. In SP WBS, these items have “Common to DP” in their felds in orange.

WBS – immediate steps

At the RRB, we will show pie charts that attempt to summarize institutional interests within each consortia (e.g. Pie chart on the left for APA)

  • RRB meeting – November 2nd
  • Global WBS: The goal is merge all the WBS from all the consortia into a

global WBS document which will be presented at the RRB meeting

  • Institutional Interests: The next main step in the process is to attach

institutional interests to specific WBS items where appropriate

– It’s understood that not every WBS element will have an attached

institutional interest at this point in time

– Deadline: Tuesday, October 31st

WBS – immediate steps

  • Please look at the latest WBS files and put your institution's name down

next to items you and your group plans to contribute

  • Any questions/concerns on the updated WBS or if something is not clear,

please write to myself and Anselmo. We can schedule a Zoom meeting as needed.

  • Can you meet the October 31st deadline to get this information to me and

Anselmo?

Questions/comments/thoughts?

Other activities & Post-RRB (from Eric)

  • The WBS prepared represent activities that will happen in 2020 for the

construction effort of SP and DP

–

We also need to prepare a list of R&D activities in 2018/2019 for producing

  • TDRs. Soon we will need to provide feedback on this item.

Post-RRB

  • The next major milestone for the consortia will be completing the Technical

Proposal by April, 2018

  • Technical proposal will include

–

Written description of proposed subsystems and any alternatives under consideration

–

Updated WBS and associated list of institutional interests

–

Initial subsystem cost estimates

–

Initial draft of schedule for construction activities

Instrumentation FT Status

  • Instrumentation Feedthroughs: Thermometers, Purity Monitors & Cameras
  • As a response to our request for ports, we were asked to explore the possibility
  • f using cable trays and bolts that are present at the top and bottom (all along

the height for the corners) of the cryostat.

– Purity Monitor folks (Andrew/Jianming) and Thermometer folks

(Jelena/Anselmo) have been exploring this

– Cable trays are in the corners and no FTs on top of them

Instrumentation FT Status

  • First thing we are exploring by looking at

fluid flow simulations is if the fluid flow at the corners a good representation of what is going on in the rest of the cryostat.

  • For Purity Monitors: seems like the

corner location is not an issue from fluid flow side.

–

Also, not an issue in terms of mounting the device.

–

Near by ports and how we will route cables needs more exploration

  • For Thermometers: seems like corners

are not good representation of what goes

  • n in the rest of the cryostat

–

Mounting is also a challenge especially Dynamic T-gradient thermometers
