  • Reevaluate and plan for

higher efficiency for building capacity usage.

Strategic Planning

  • Process started with the residency verification

process and data analysis which started in 2017.

  • Class sizes were based on SED square footage

requirements and developmental needs.

  • Projections were made from current enrollment

and trends.

  • Bilingual and self contained special education

student needs were addressed.

  • Special permission students were not moved as a

result of the process.

  • Deliberate attempts were made to redraw lines

logically.

  • Careful attempts were made to avoid the need to

redraw lines again once all construction is completed.

Phase 1 of 2: Redrawing Lines for Columbus

  • Relocates 40-45 students

to Pennington.

  • Provides space towards

honoring commitment to Pre-K – 8 neighborhood school. Three anticipated 8th grade sections will attend the STEAM Academy in 2019-2020 removing the need for modular classrooms at Columbus.

  • Improves general
  • vercrowding.
  • Reduces enrollment by

124 students down to 605 projected for next year.

  • Reduces reliance on space

not designed for optimal learning; e.g. library and hallway space.

  • Pennington captures an

additional 166 students from Columbus and Lincoln as a result of the redrawn lines.

Recommendations for next year

  • At Parker, there will be a room reconfiguration to

accommodate full implementation of the 2020 vision.

  • Two modular classrooms will be utilized at Traphagen

in 2019-2020.

  • Zones for Pennington, Lincoln and Columbus will be

redistributed effective July 2019.

  • Columbus 8thgrade (60) students will attend the

STEAM Academy in 2019-2020.

  • Grimes 8th grade (32) students will attend BTMS in

2019-2020.

  • Hamilton 7th grade (53) students will continue to

attend BTMS.
