the wide range of ways in which a child is gifted; issues and practices in identifying and serving gifted children; and the manner in which assessment data shape decisions about identification, learning progress and outcome

theoretical and research-based data necessary for the development of programs, curriculum and instructional sequences for gifted children, especially those serving gifted students from diverse populations + Gifted Teacher Content Exam

Entitling Subsequent Endorsements

Recognized Illinois institutions may entitle for subsequent endorsements using the process outlined below.

  • 1. Verify 18 semester hours of coursework at a grade of C- or better on
  • fficial transcripts from any regionally accredited institution.
  • 2. Verify content test (as applicable) is posted as passing on educator’s ELIS

account.

  • 3. Enter subsequent endorsement entitlement through the “Add New”

button on the educator’s credentials screen.

  • 4. Educator applies for the entitled endorsement in ELIS and the

endorsement issues.

Requirements of 25.620 for a candidate:

student teaching must be awarded as credit on an official transcript

student teaching must be done under the active supervision of a cooperating teacher who:

▪ is licensed and qualified to teach in the area ▪ has three years of teaching experience ▪ has received a proficient or above performance rating on his or her

most recent evaluation

▪ Is directly engaged in teaching subject matter or conducting learning

activities in the area of student teaching.
