  • Make sure you send in all the required materials for a complete application
  • Includes:

– Application

  • Letters of Rec, Essays

– Application Fee (or Fee Waiver) – Official SAT/ACT scores – Transcript

  • MUST BE REQUESTED IN NAVIANCE!

  • Senior Brag Sheet (School Cnslg Website) for Counselor Recommendation!
  • Senior Brag Survey (Naviance) for Teacher Recommendation!

** Located under the My Planner Tab in Naviance

  • Provide details about yourself and your strengths

– Provide resume if possible. (You can create one in Naviance)

  • Ask teachers and counselors at least 2 weeks in advance
  • Always ask before you send the request for a letter of recommendation
  • Explain why you want them to write you a letter of recommendation

  • If you need to improve test scores, sign up immediately
  • If you are going to a community college → you should NOT take the SAT or ACT
  • Most colleges will accept either SAT or ACT scores → no preference & weigh scores

▶ Be aware of college application deadlines → first deadlines are in October and November ▶College admissions have become increasingly competitive so apply to 3-5 schools

▶ 1-2 Reach → academics are slightly lower than the admissions standards ▶ 2-4 Match → academics match the admission standards ▶ 1-2 Safe → academics exceed the admission standards

▶ South Piedmont Community College (SPCC) and Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) ▶ Open admission ▶ 2 year college option that can lead to:

Associates of Art or Science (TRANSFER) → degree that is designed for transfer

Diploma or certificate in a specific program (WORKFORCE) → lead to workforce ▶ Early Childhood Education, Automotive Systems Technology, Welding Technology, and many more!

MILITARY

▶ Different military branches visit SVHS throughout the year ▶ The ASVAB test is REQUIRED (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) for entrance into the military ▶ SVHS will offer the ASVAB test 3 times this year!
