Measures: Bias, RMSD, distribution function (histogram) “Good” (natural) bias for any specific site - achievable globally:

  • ±2% to ±3% for GHI (up to 7% in high mountains)
  • ±5% to ±7% for DNI (up to 15% in extreme regions)

Bias is higher in temperate climate, complex terrain and in regions with high aerosols “Good” (natural) hourly RMSD for any site:

  • for GHI hourly: 9% to 25% (up to 40% in high mountains)
  • for DNI hourly: 20% to 45% (up to 60% in high mountains)

RMSD is higher in higher latitudes, in complex terrain, cloudy regions and in regions with high variability of aerosols
