 Home ownership rates lowest in 66 years  State houses sold off  6,700 on government housing waiting list  77% on waiting list after 1 or 2 bedrooms  A lot of NZ rentals are sub-standard

Christchurch Housing

 Market is cooling due to over-supply  Still 6x annual household income to buy a

property (2-3x is affordable)

 Rents increased more than 41

percent between 2010 and 2015

 78 per cent of renters could not afford to

buy their own home
