Welcome to Kindergarten at JG! Orientation 2017

Transportation

• Bus- All students assigned a bus stop. If your child will ride the bus

please ride within the 1st week of school to ensure your stop will not be dropped! All students have a tag identifying who they are and their bus stop. Parent volunteers will be there to guide Kindergartners to the correct classrooms during the 1st 2 weeks of school.

• Walker - You must live in the walk zone. You may not drive then

park and let your child walk to school.

• Carpool - Must register for a carpool tag. You may do this in the

front office.

Before & After School Programs

Before Care: 7:00-8:45 a.m.

• $96.25 Monday-Friday

After Care: 3:45-6:00 p.m.

• $114.58 Monday-Friday
• (this includes early release days)

Early Release Days Only: $89.25 For more info visit: JGMES After Care Program

Breakfast & Lunch

• You may come have lunch with your child (please wait

until 2 weeks after Kindergarten begins to allow for children to get use to cafeteria rules & procedures).

• Sign-in at the front office & meet the class at the

cafeteria door.

• When lunch is over say good-bye to your child at the

cafeteria door.

• Accounts- online, checks, or cash.
• Student ID numbers will be sent home the first day of

Kindergarten for your child to practice.

• Please send one snack in a separate location

(not in lunchbox).

• If possible, please send water and not juice.

Snacks

We have 4 specials students will attend each week:

• ART (Ms. East) –MUSIC (Mrs. Barnes)
• P.E. (Coach Smith) –MEDIA (Ms. Muse)

Specials

• During 1st quarter of school (9 weeks)
• May phase out earlier- based on class need
• Bring a large towel (no mats or pillows please)

Rest Time

Staggered Entry

• Choose ONE day (M, T, W, or R) your child will come

the first week of school (Aug. 28th-Aug. 31st)

• Please call the school at (919) 881-4910 to sign up for

your staggered entry day if you have not done this yet.

• Sign up on either Traditional K (orange) or Spanish

Immersion (pink)

• Please select a different day if every slot is filled on the

sign up (do not write in your name at the bottom J)

• Kindergarten meet the teacher will be Friday,

September 1st. Time TBA.

What to Bring to Staggered Entry

• Bookbag (should be able to fit a standard size folder)
• Lunch from home or lunch money
• Snack is a separate spot (away from their lunch)
• Water Bottle
