Solutions from the Community

Issaq Ahmed

WHAT CAN PHILANTHROPISTS DO?

“ There is a genuine opportunity for philanthropists to invest in underfunded and underserved communities in Toronto. I can only imagine how much residents’ lives would improve if they had

  • ptions, instead of having no choice but to work

with what they have.”

💢 Good Granting Practices!

  • Small-medium sized organizations play a key role in testing new approaches on-the-

ground and providing vital support to their communities. Like any good investment strategy, diversify your giving to include these types of organizations.

  • Let community organizations lead your understanding of the most relevant solutions for

those living in their communities. These organizations offer unique solutions that are tailored to meet the needs of their local communities. Impact is not synonymous with scaling a program or just supporting the newest “program of the day”.

  • Without secure funding, community organizations can’t staff and resource their programs

adequately to run sustainably. Consider unrestricted giving or directly supporting administration costs.

  • If you have a good relationship with an organization consider giving a multi-year or lump

sum gift so they can focus more resources on their programming.

  • While sometimes it’s great to be the first donor to support a project, there is also great

value in collaborating or pooling your resources with others to extend impact.

Our Impact

The vast majority of our impact comes from the $14.1M granted by our Fundholders…

THAT’S YOU!
