  • To gain knowledge and experience with regards

to the prevention and management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation

  • Develop and improve the guidelines and core

capacities with regards to the aviation industry

  • To implement new procedures and find new

precautions with regards to the Public Health incidents that are related to the aviation industry

  • To coordinate the International aviation response

with regards to the Public Health risks, such as pandemics & endemics which is a key role of ICAO.

  • By CAPSCA all international, regional, national

and local organizations are brought together to combine efforts and develop a coordinated approach.

Chapter 2 History of BIA Clinic

  • The present Airport Health Clinic was

previously named as the Health Office and it was under the administration of Public Health Directorate.

  • The Health Office services in the airport

started in 1952 by Dr. P. P. Mathews, who was on call attending the emergency cases in the health office followed by Dr. Ramzy Faiz and Dr. Mustafa

  • At present, the Airport Clinic is operated

by the Ministry of Health and is located at the departure area (level6.0) opposite to gate12B

  • At present the Airport Clinic is serving all BIA

users, that include all staff and passengers (citizen and non-citizen)

  • The medical team available at the Airport Clinic

coordinates closely with the Public Health Directorate – MoH, in order to prevent, protect against, swiftly respond to, and recover from health emergencies, in a timely manner and return to normal operations

  • Furthermore, the upcoming slides are some

examples of Public Health Incidents at BIA during 2018

  • Close coordination took place between the

Airport Clinic & the Public Health Directorate – MoH

  • Additional medical team was available on duty

24/7 to handle & treat all flights arriving from an infected destination

  • Thermal Scanners were installed at arrival

(L2.8) as there was a spread of Nipah Virus (Pandemic Influenza)

  • Manual Nipah temperature screening took

place at Gate 12B to ensure each passenger arriving from an infected destination was examined.
