Reading
- Please sign your child’s Reading Records regularly but
at least every time your child has read to you (minimum 5 x weekly).
- Every morning, we will check Reading Records for
reading and parent/carer signatures and record whether or not your child has read at home.
- Please ensure that your child reads for a minimum of
five nights (10 minutes per night).
- Please encourage your child to practice learning the
key words from their text and ask them relevant questions about the books that they are reading.
English
- This Term we are reading: Stormbreaker by Anthony
Horowitz
- Spellings – tested every Thursday and new spellings
to be given out on Fridays.
- SPaG Focus for this half term: Conjunctions.
- Expectations of presentation.
- Handwriting – practiced at least 3 times a week.
Maths
- Areas of learning this term: Place Value and Number.
- Real life problem solving.
- Presentation of work.
- TT Rockstars: To know by heart all the times tables up
to x12 (daily practice).
- 56 Club
- We are excited to be introducing a new teaching scheme
called Maths No Problem, from after half-term. More information for parents and carers will be available throughout the year.
Homework
- Maths and English homework will be given weekly on a
- Friday. This will be taken from the CGP books,
provided at the beginning of the year.
- Weekly Spellings.
- Times table practise via TT Rockstars.
- Daily reading (minimum of 5 times per week).
