Today’s session is about Getting more insight into the impact you have so you can tell your story and get more support. Sailactivity gathers the data you need, aligns what you are doing with priorities for sport and activity in the UK and helps you get more
- support. Find out how to implement it at your venue.
Seven investment principles
- Our seven investment principles have been developed with this in mind. The
principles include:
- Ensure a clear line of sight to the objectives in Sporting Future
- Prioritise demographic groups who are currently under-represented
- Use the behaviour change model to guide our decisions
- Get maximum value from all our resources, not just our cash
- Expand the supply chain
- Review our investment portfolio regularly
- Encourage increased efficiency
Sport England 2017-2021 funding cycle
- Tool for measuring the impact that sailing has on
reducing inactivity
- Key evidence for Sport England to meet RYA
Sailability funding
- Any Sailability Group can use it
- Enables you to get impact data which could be
used in funding applications
- Individual sailors can log their sailing activity on it
Sail Activity
Sailability Groups can nominate a key contact (Centre Manager) who can view anonymised data from their sailors/volunteers. This data can be extracted and used to support funding applications The key contact can also register new sailor accounts and log activity for individuals Any individual can register for their own sail activity account, log their activity and see a summary of their activity and impact
Introduction to Sail Activity
Hello and welcome to this video that explains how to log an activity on the RYA's Sailactivity evaluation platform. You are definitely helping your Sailabiltiy group evidence what it is acheiving and you are helping the RYA, so thank you very much for watching. First thing to notice is that we are on our staging website. This is just our test platform, there for you to practice and for us to try a few things out. it looks exactly the same as the main website. As you can see. So I am now on the main website. active.rya.org.uk And this is the staging website. So this is the screen you will see when you first log in. And the first thing you will notice is this big green button to log an activity. So I am going to click that. This window comes up. It just takes you through a series of information to
- record. And then you get to submit that information.
The first thing. What best describes the activity that you do? I am going to choose sailing for lesiure. You can change your mind. You can only pick one of these, so just pick the
- ne that best describes the activity.
Next question. Where did you do this activity. Three ways of doing this. You can type the name of the club. You can use the drop down box and scroll
- down. Obviously it is a long list.
Or you can do a combination of those two, which is what Iam going to try. I type the letter 'M' and then I am going to start scrolling down because actually I went sailing at Mariners of Bewl. And when did I attend? So this defaults to today's date. Again if I click on the drop down box I can pick any date. I can go back. The day I was at Mariners was the end of January. Wednesday 29th. The next question is 'how long did you spend doing this actvity'. Again select an option, click anywhere in the box. You have three options. Up to half a day, a full day, more than a day. I am going to pick 'up to half a day'. At this point you can see that the green submit button has turned from grey to green. So you could actually submit the data now, but there are some further questions. There are four statements. You have to decide how much you agree with
- them. The scale at the right hand end is yes I fully agree with them. 5 out of
5. Or I completely disagree is 1 out of 5 at the left end. So today's activity helped increase my activity level. Yes that was average, it wasn't the most active day. Definitely I am going to say it improved my wellbeing. I am going to give that a 5. And I had a great time meeting everyone. I met some new people so definitely helped me connect with others. It wasn't so much about new skills for me, so I am going to score that a 3. Finally there is a chance to record any memorable moments. You don't have to, but I am going to record something. So just slide the button from no, to
- yes. And then this tell us about it box becomes active.
....typing....type in there whatever you like. You do get a maximum of 255
- characters. But I am well within that.
So I am just going to click the submit button. All done, thanks very much for filling in the questionnaire. It's as simple as that. Thanks very much for watching.

Some key messages to share If you have better insight about the impact of activities, you have a stronger story to tell about what happens and why and this can mean more support and more that can be done as a result. Sailactivity offers such insight.
- Sailactivity is directly aligned with Sport England’s mission, strategy and objectives – this
helps with funding, not just from Sport England but the wider sport and activity sector
- Sailors can use the tool to track their own sailing activity and progress, reflecting what they
get out of it, what they learn and how often they are out on the water
- Sailors can use the tool and know that they are helping their Sailability group
and the RYA do more
How can you implement Sailactivity at your group?
