LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT CRITERIA The learner will: The learner can:

1. Understand the range of uses for practical presentation skills when working in the creative industries. 1.1 Describe the importance of practical presentation skills when working in the creative industries. 1.2 Describe how practical presentation skills can be used when working in the creative industries to include:

  • Guided tours
  • Object handling (e.g. using a

prop/visual/physical object/artefact)

  • Public speaking
  • Story telling
  • Pitching
  • Team/business meetings.

2. Be able to research information for practical presentations in the creative industries. 2.1 Identify the purpose of a practical presentation relevant to a creative industry. 2.2 Research key facts for use in a practical presentation in TWO of the following areas relevant to a creative industry:

  • A guided tour
  • Object handling (e.g. using a

prop/visual/physical object/artefact)

  • Speaking in public
  • Story telling (e.g. of historical

significance)

  • Pitching a proposal/creative idea.

3. Understand how to plan and prepare practical presentations in a creative industry. 3.1 Describe the importance of planning and preparing a practical presentation. 3.2 Describe how to structure a plan for a practical presentation to meet identified purpose in a creative industry. 3.3 Identify who can support and provide expertise into the planning process for practical presentations in a creative industry. 4. Understand how to deliver a practical presentation in a creative industry. 4.1 Describe a variety of resources for use within practical presentations in a creative industry to include:

  • Equipment
  • Visual aids and props

  • Audio and special effects

Assessment Guidance:

Assessment of competence-based learning outcomes should be conducted as part of a work placement within the creative and cultural sector. Where there is evidence that this is not possible, simulation in a ‘Realistic Working Environment’ (RWE) is permitted. An RWE is "an environment that replicates the key characteristics of the workplace in which the skill to be assessed is normally employed".
